Summersville Public Library Pajama Party 2009
The Summersville Public Library was originally founded as the Elizabeth Stephenson Memorial Library in 1962. The library was initially housed in a space donated by the Farmers & Merchants Bank and run by volunteers. In 1964 the library moved into Summersville's newly constructed municipal building. When the library outgrew it's space in the municipal building, it entered into a partnership with Glenville State College to open a new public library that could support the curriculum of their Nicholas County branch campus.
Through a number of changes, the Glenville campus is now the independently accredited New River Community and Technical College, Nicholas County Campus . Through our partnership with NRCTC we are able to stay open more hours, offer all of our patrons more magazine and journals to browse through, a larger Reference Collection and a more in-depth non-fiction circulating collection. The Summersville Public Library is also a member of the Mountain Library Network , a consortium of neighboring libraries working together to bring you more choices for your information needs.
