"Good Gauley" - A profile of the Gauley River

This glimpse of the Gauley River National Recreation Area is provided to us by Colleen Laffey, a local videographer/producer of many outdoor endeavors throughout West Virginia and the rest of the world.

Gauley River National Recreation Area

The 26 miles of free-flowing Gauley River and the six miles of the Meadow River pass through some of West Virginia's most scenic gorges and valleys, containing a wide variety of natural and cultural features. The Upper Gauley River contains over 65 rapids many of these class V+, making it one of the most adventurous white water boating rivers in the east.  The Lower Gauley provides just as many rapids without the risks involved on the Upper section.  The Gauley River National Recreation Area is managed by New River Gorge National River. For more information about National Park Service lands and facilities in the area, visit the New River Gorge National River web site.
